Don Bosco Hatred for Sin
"Raise all the Rumpus you want, run and jump, just avoid sin" and when it is a matter of preventing sin let nothing stand in your way. prevent sin at any cost (BM VI, 489 ) When I see God offended I can't hold back even against any army" There were the famous exhortations given by Don Bosco to his boys to prevent sin. For him the only aim of his life was salvation of souls. so he had farmed the boys from the beginning because the dream that he had, the Lord instructed him about the ugliness of sin. which he kept and put into practiced till the very end of his life and he helped the boys to overcome from the sin/evil. He had special grace and gift from God to know the sins of the boys.
Don Bosco had special eye on the boys by present in them and constant loving supervision moreover the frequent sacraments to avoid the sins. whenever a seroius fault was committed, it distressed him more than any personal misfortune. In deepest sorrow he would say the transgressor, why do you treat God so meanly when he loves us so must sometime he was in tears. Both in private and in public, his words aimed at instilling a genuine horror of sin in his hearers. A testimony of father Felix Raviglio says, he had such a profound horror of sin that in the eleven years I lived with him I never saw him deliberately commit a venial sin"
Don Bosco being the confessor and spiritual director of his boys Don Bosco knew the state of his boys conscience. Many times it was revealed to him by God through dreams. For instance one night Don Bosco dreamed of a boy whose heart was being eaten by worms, which he tried to pluck them out. Don Bosco pain no attention to the dream. when the dream repeated for second time he was sure that the Lord had some special grace in store of this boy, whose conscience must have been badly muddled. he kept an eye on him. one day he asked the boy would you do me a favor? sure if i can you can if you want to what is it? will you really do it? yes I will tell me . have you ever kept anything back in confession? he was about to deny it but immediately Don Bosco added why don't you confess this and that? He glanced at Don Bosco and burst into tears. It's true, he said, It's years since I have wanted to confess that, but I am too scared. Don Bosco comforted him and told him how he could make his peace with God. on April 18th 1868 Don Lemoyne wrote a letter to his boys at Lanzo in which he gave the message of Don Bosco Give up sin, save your souls, if I were to know that even one of you were to be lost salvation is my sole thought, my sole desire my sole worry. All I want is to make good Christians out of you and help you to reach heaven.
